A picturesque location in the mountains, situated next to the Lake amidst the coffee plantations of Yercaud stands the majestic Lake Forest Hotel -a part of the Indeco Leisure hotels & resorts, hosted the contestants of the VIVEL MISS CHENNAI & CHENNAI MAN 2009, For an interesting sub-event titled Lakeforest hotel‘s Miss Adventure & Mr. Adventure .The property more than 100 years old houses heritage bungalows with antique furniture and Artifacts set an interesting backdrop for an action packed event .The contestants were judged on various rounds of competition, the first was an all terrain race titled Rooster race, where the contestants were divided in pairs & had to race on a mountainous path in-between the oak trees, holding a bamboo rooster on their backs. The shocking truth hit us on the face, when these youngsters were even willing to give up their safety to win the race. The Obstacle race was truly thrilling and the actual fact was that more than half the pairs were flying off the ground. The second Race was a Mountain motor car relay - Here the contestants were made to ride a small buggy car. It was really funny to see all the girls & the men drive up the trees instead of the mud roads that they had to. The final event was an Endurance test titled- SOS. The guys were made to run uphill with the women on their backs, this ended up with most pairs flat on their faces, it became an s.o.s. situation. In the night they were tested on their Fear Factor – all the contestants were made to experience a spooky night– in a haunted bungalow. The truth behind ghosts, we had strong believers v/s vociferous non- believers, but overall, fear overshadows faith. Both the boys and girls put up a fierce struggle and fight to win the title . The activities were spread over 2 days and the contestants had an experience of a lifetime. The show goes on………….wonder who is going to walk away with this year’s title. One thing, the battle is sure to be tough.

On 13th April the contestants of Vivel Miss Chennai & Chennai Man 2009 took part in the Tsunami rehabilitated village Nemellikuppam’s thiruvillazha. The whole day was fun filled with activities like kite flying competition and kolam competition between the contestants and the village folk. In the evening, there were celebrations at the village set to a typical thiruvillazha of lights and music. Our contestants performed in folk and village based themes and costumes like Oyilattam, Kuliattam, snake dance, Iyyanar, poikal kuthirai, selambattam, puliattam, thalam & thappatam, Radha Krishna, etc. Mr.Vaidiyanathan of Calsoft and Mrs. Vaidiyanathan were the judges. The contestants left them thrilled and made their choice difficult with their outstanding performances. Mr.Folklore was won by Mr.Anil who played the character of Naradar followed by Vijay Victor who played the role of a monkey. Ms.Folklore was won by Kavipriya who charmed away the audience with the peacock attire and dance followed by Sujavanthy who had the natural dialect of a josiakkari (Fortune teller). The evening ended with sumptuous dinner prepared by the villagers for the entire gathering. On the whole it was an evening of fun and great satisfaction and a learning process for the modern youth.

On Sunday, 26th April 2009, we have Samsung’s Creative Chef Contest at GRT Grand, T.Nagar to crown Samsung’s Mr.Creative Chef and Ms.Creative Chef.

On Sunday, 26th April 2009, the contestants of Vivel Miss Chennai & Chennai Man 2009 took part in Samsung’s Creative Chef Contest at GRT Grand, T.Nagar. A creative cookery contest with the theme slim cooking and fun cooking using Samsung’s microwave oven was a delight to watch and taste. The contestants were dressed to their best with matching aprons, chef caps and gloves and were ready to compete for the title Samsung’s Creative Chefs in the event Vivel Miss Chennai & Chennai Man 2009. Before the competition, special sessions on etiquette, table manners and how to serve a five course meal were instructed by Mr.Richardo De Lema of GRT Grand and lent his expertise on the same. The theme is keeping with the age of the contestants was slim cooking as the models have to maintain slim figure and fun cooking with some thing that food can be stirred up within 10 minutes. The three judges of this special event were Mr.Richardo De Lema & Mr.Sitaraman of GRT and Mrs. Lakshmi Baliga of Food columnist from The Hindu Retail Plus. The winners of Samsung Creative Chefs were Mr.Anil & Ms.Kavipriya and runners up were Mr. Mohit & Ms.Sahitiya followed by Mr.Vijay Victor & Ms. Rishitha. The whole day was full of fun, creative cooking and enjoyment.

Overlooking the serene swimming pool, the Vivel Miss Chennai & Vivel Chennai Man strutted and sashayed to win the above sub-titles. They enjoyed the Rain Dance, ‘Uri Adi’ the traditional Indian game of hitting the pot and other interesting aspects at the Indeco resort and finally Suhasini Raju won the Vivel Miss Body Beautiful with Priya Talur coming a close second. Both Ganesh Ram and Bharath Raj won the Vivel Perfect Body, Rishitha won the Vivel Miss Beautiful Skin and Mohammed Abdul won the Mr.Charming. Sahithya won the Miss. Personality and Dev won the Mr.Personality. The judges for the event were Miss. Manu Sharma – Actress & Dancer, Mr.Amit Nahar – Chennai Man 2007/08 & Ms.Anuja – Actress & Model.
